Synopsis:

Hiking the nearly 2,200-mile Appalachian Trail is a mammoth undertaking. Those up to the task could use a little help from this benevolent, chain-smoking Trail Angel who drives the only white van you want to accept candy from.

Thoughts from the filmmaker:

In 2018 Max thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail, and it was during this experience that he met Rob Bird, the Trail Angel that inspired One Wing in the Fire. The film was shot over 10 days during the 2019 thru-hike season. Max lived with his subjects, often sharing a futon with hikers that came to stay with Rob.
