Join the Maine Aquaculture Association, the World Wildlife Fund and FocusMaine for the World Premiere of TENDING THE TIDES. Come early for light refreshments and food from the sea. There will be a panel discussion after the film.

This event is part of Maine Seaweed Week – the largest seaweed food and drink festival in North America!
Come early to enjoy oysters, seaweed cuisine, food from the sea and other refreshments/beverages.
Please bring ID if you intend to enjoy an adult beverage.
The event will be inside O’Maine Studios and seating is limited so advance tickets are recommended.
After the film, stick around for a 45-minute panel featuring protagonists from the film.

About the Film: TENDING THE TIDES – 25 Minutes – By Maine Mountain Media – Maine – TENDING THE TIDES tells the story of the nation’s first accredited Aquaculture Apprentices and Pre-Apprentices as they forge careers on the water. Through hands-on training and mentorship, these young sea farmers are gaining the skills and experience needed to thrive in Maine’s growing aquaculture sector, while strengthening Maine’s working waterfronts.

About the Panel: “Seeding the Future: Growing The Aquaculture Workforce Through Apprenticeship” features a panel of apprentices, host farmers, and program leaders who will delve deeper into the past, present, and the future of aquaculture workforce development programs, and the role they will play for Maine’s future. Panelists include*:

  • Michael Scannell, Apprentice, Farm Manager, and Former Pre-Apprentice at Madeleine Point Oyster Farms
  • Carissa Maurin, Aquaculture Program Manager at the Gulf of Maine Research Institute
  • Kelly Morgan, Apprentice at Bombazine Oyster Company
